The Human Dimensions Lab at Oregon State University's Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Sciences Department seeks to better understand the linkages between social and ecological systems, with a primary focus on the social.  We use theories and tools from psychology, sociology, anthropology, geography and public policy in our interdisciplinary approaches. ​​

  • Dr. Biedenweg will be on sabbatical 2022-2023 with a Fulbright scholarship to Chile.  She'll be working on developing human wellbeing indicators for Chilean national parks.

  • Doctoral student Krista Harrington received an Advancing Science in America fellowship for Oregon
  • M.S. student, Isabel Justiniano, is driven to engage Latino populations in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation education.  See her work highlighted here.
  • Dr. Brittany King has recently published two chapters from her dissertation looking at diversity of experiences in marine fisheries science.  Social Identities of Women and Women of Color and Mental Models Reveal Diverse Perspectives
  • Dr. Eric Wade's work on exploring mental models to understand fisheries decisions was highlighted as one of 17 social science examples improving marine conservation. 
  • Dr. Biedenweg gave an opening plenary on Communication Myths to Oregon Sea Grant in May 2020.  Video to the 20minute presentation here.
